What are personality tests?

Personality tests are psychological assessment tools designed to systematically identify an individual's psychological traits, behavioral patterns, and interpersonal tendencies. Modern psychology understands personality not as fixed categories but as a continuous spectrum, focusing on exploring where each person falls across various dimensions.

The tests offered by Every Type are based on academically researched psychological concepts, including attachment theory (Bowlby & Ainsworth), trauma response frameworks (fight/flight/freeze/fawn), and the rejection sensitivity model (Downey & Feldman). While these tests do not replace professional clinical diagnosis, they serve as valuable starting points for increasing self-awareness and exploring personal growth directions.

We currently offer five tests: Attachment Style Test, Trauma Response Test, People Pleaser Quiz, Rejection Sensitivity Test, and the 2026 Winter Olympics Personality Test.

Our test design methodology

Each test is designed with reference to academic literature and validated measurement instruments in the relevant field of psychology. For example, the Attachment Style Test draws from Hazan and Shaver's adult attachment research and Bartholomew's four-category model, while the Trauma Response Test is informed by Pete Walker's Complex PTSD response type classification.

During question design, we take care to minimize double negatives, leading questions, and social desirability bias. The scoring system applies dimension-specific weights to derive the most appropriate personality type. Result pages go beyond simple type classification to include the psychological background of each type, how it manifests in daily life, and healthy coping strategies.

What you will discover

Through Every Type's tests, you can gain structured insight into your interpersonal relationship patterns, stress response style, emotional regulation tendencies, and sensitivity to others' evaluations. This self-awareness provides practical benefits for improving relationships, workplace communication, and emotional well-being.

Each result page includes the strengths and growth areas of your type, comparisons with similar types, and evidence-based self-management strategies drawn from psychology literature, serving as an ongoing self-understanding guide you can reference well beyond the initial test.
